Mfr. of metal granules from molten metal stream

Granules of metal, partic. Sb granules for doping Si in the semiconductor industry, Sn, In and Pb granules for special solder mfr., are produced by a process in which a molten metal stream impinges on a water bath and disintegrates, so that spherical shapes are produced in the water vapour bubbles that form around the liquid metal drops. Pref. the water bath is heated to 80 to 100 deg. C before entering the water bath and the temp. is maintained constant during the whole process. The liquid metal stream pref. falls over a distance between 5 and 2500 mm.
