<p>A continuous rotary pressure steriliser (1) comprises a cylindrical housing (2) within which a reel (3) rotates about an axle (5) journalled at each end in end plates (10, 11) secured in pressure tight engagement to said housing (2). A feed device (6) is disposed near the first endplate (10) and a discharge device (12) is disposed near the second end plate (11). Angle bars (7) attached to the outer circumference of the reel (3) extend the length thereof parallel to its axis. A T-shaped rail (8) forms a spiral on the inside of the housing (2), and a trough (18) containing a condensate drain (38) is located at the bottom of the vessel (1). Said T-shaped rail (8) comprises a first base rail (21), a second base rail (22), and a vertical strip (23), all mechanically joined together by a merge weld (24). Base rail (21) is made from a wear resistant and shearable stainless alloy such as "Nitronic-30" (RTM).</p> |
