The electrochemical sensor comprises a sensor element, sealed into a metallic casing by means of a novel seal arrangement. The seal arrangement (30) includes at least one metal soldered connection (37, 38), with which the sensor element (13) is connected to the metallic casing (11). Pref. an electrical insulator (31) is joined by a solder connection (37) to the sensor element (13). A second soldered connection (38) joins it to the casing (11). A metal shell (32) may be located between insulator (31) and casing (11); the shell is soldered to the insulator.
