In a pneumatic tyre having a carcass A of rubberized plies of parallel radial cords and a tread reinforcement B of superposed cross-laid rubberized plies of parallel metal cords, the tread C is cushioned on the plies B by superposed cross-laid rubberized plies D of parallel cords of synthetic fibres. Circumferentially extending rubber strips E are provided one at each axial extremity of the layers B and D. The synthetic fibres form an angle of 20-60 degrees with the mid-circumferential plane of the tyre, this angle being greater than the angle formed by the metal cords B with the same plane. |
