The compressor has multi-, preferably three-staged, displacement rotors (8) on its pressure side (12). They are mounted on a tubular, stationary support (7,23) surrounding the rotor shaft (20). Part of the support extends into the rotor and can cool it. The peripheral surfaces of the rotor and the support facing each other are capable of heat exchange. The intermediate space between these surfaces is connected with the pressure side. The cooling part of the support contains channels (25) through which coolant flows. These channels are arranged near the intermediate space.
