An apparatus for processing a filmstrip 26 with its trailing end secured to a cartridge 24, comprises at least one processing tank 30 and a reel 50 for holding a portion of the filmstrip 26 and is positioned within the processing tank so that the filmstrip 26 will be submersed by processing solution 54. The apparatus further includes a transport mechanism 42 for moving the reel along the apparatus from one tank to another, each tank having, an agitator 62 for agitating the processing solution and causing it to flow adjacent the filmstrip 26, and a baffle 58 below the processing solution level for minimizing the introduction of air into the processing solution.
