A pressure limiter is included in the hydraulic circuit and opens by a hydraulic pressure which corresponds to an operating force above maximum. The force limits a further increase in hydraulic pressure. The opening of the pressure limiter is set to a predefined hydraulic pressure, or against a positively adjusted spring pressure. The limiter opens at a hydraulic pressure which corresponds to an opposing pedal pressure which is calculated so that there is little possibility of injury to the driver's foot in contact with the pedal.
