The arc quench chamber for air-insulated load disconnection switches, in medium voltage assemblies, has ballast zone (10) contg. bodies (14) which deliver a gas on heating and a fixed contact (11). The ballast zone (10) also has a lateral wall (12) with a moving switch contact (8) passing through it and the ballast zone (10) to the fixed contact (11). The ballast bodies (14) are of thermoplastic fluoropolymers.
