Control of free to move animals in e.g. milking shed

An animal house, such as a cow shed, 11 has a number of stalls 10, a feeding trough 8, a milking station 9, three water control points 1-3 and a water tank 4 positioned near to the milking robot. When the animal drinks water it is automatically identified and its location fixed by data transmitted to a central controller. If the animal is required to move to a different location the water supply is blocked and the animal moves in a search for an alternative supply.
