Some or all of the heat/noise producing components such as the starting units (10) and the cooling system for the heat exchanger arranged in the housing, besides the radiation source, the radiating tubes (1) themselves, are arranged in an external switchboard and are connected with the radiation unit across supply lines. The switchboard can be installed outside the sun-tanning studio esp. in the open air. The heat producing components of several radiation units can be arranged in the switchboard. The external switchboard has ventilation openings and the heat producing components are cooled by natural convection or by a cooling system.
