A power pack for a flash-lamp 15 having a handle 17 containing a storage capacitor (16) Figs. 10, 11 (not shown) connected to the power pack by an electrical cord 18, comprises a case 10 having releasably secured top 11 and bottom 12 portions, there being a battery 14 in the bottom portion and control circuitry mounted on a board 39 in the top portion. A pair of contacts 51, 52 are also mounted on the board 39, said contacts engaging battery terminals 45, 46 when the portions are secured together by latches 13. The contact 51 is biased by a resilient arm 53 of a capacitor discharge switch 54 so that the switch is open when the contact 51 engages the terminal 46 and closed when the latches 13 are released so as to separate the two portions Fig. 7 (not shown). A resistor (57, 60) is provided in circuit with the switch 54 and the capacitor (16), when the latter is connected by means of a plug 19 on the cord 18 fitting in a socket 20, so that closure of the switch 54 on separation of the two portions 11, 12 results in discharge of the capacitor, thus rendering the power pack safe regardless of the setting of an on-off switch 28. A lamp (42), connected with a relaxation oscillator (43, 44), indicates the "on" condition of the power pack. Anchorages 37 are provided for carrying straps, or alternatively the power pack may be secured to an operator's belt by a clip (23) Fig. 9 (not shown) screwed into a tripod socket on the power pack. |
