A multi-layer heat sealable structure comprising a substrate including an opaque polyolefin film. A second layer is coextruded on at least one surface of the substrate. The second layer includes a heat sealable homopolymer, copolymer, terpolymer or blend thereof. A primer coating is disposed on at least one surface of the second layer. A heat sealable layer is disposed on the primer coating. The heat sealable layer includes a vinylidene chloride copolymer containing at least 50% by weight of vinylidene chloride. A method for producing the present multi-layer heat sealable structure is also disclosed.
