FIELD: fault detection, can be used at radiographic inspection of welded joints of building-ups and base metal of products. SUBSTANCE: the method consists in radiographic inspection by ionizing radiation on a radiographic film of the product under inspection with a standard- simulator installed on it, having grooves of a different width but of the same depth, corresponding to the preset allowable dimension of the defect in the direction of inspection, graph of the curve of distribution of image contrasts of standard defects plotted according to the data of photometric measurement, depending on their cross-sectional dimensions, photometric estimate of the value of image contrast of the revealed actual defect of the product, measurements of the width of image of the actual defect, and superpositions of the peak of the value of image contrast of the actual defect on the graph of the curve of distribution of contrasts of standard defects. The dimension of the actual defect in the direction of radiographic inspection is judged by the height of the peak on the graph, with the cross-sectional dimension being equal to the measured width of the actual defect. EFFECT: reduced labour content, enhanced reliability and accuracy of estimation of defects, automated process of decoding of graphs due to the use of recording microphotometers coupled with computer systems. |
