FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: at initial stage of operation main hydrocarbon fuel is delivered into engine combustion chamber where it is combusted, and exhaust gases are bypassed along exhaust duct 6 with provision of heat exchange between exhaust gases and spaces of catalytic reactor 29 and water evaporator 25. Then gases are directed into water in reservoir 22 after which they are expelled into atmosphere. Water from reservoir 22 is delivered into evaporator 25, and steam from evaporator 25 is bypassed into metering mixer 26 whereto main hydrocarbon fuel is delivered. Mixture of main hydrocarbon fuel and steam is fed into reactor 29 and converted gas from reactor outlet is directed into engine combustion chamber. Simultaneously, delivery of main hydrocarbon fuel into engine combustion chamber is stopped. EFFECT: reduced consumption of fuel, decreased contamination of ambient atmosphere. 2 dwg |
