An improved machine for automatically binding vine shoots to a taut wire is disclosed. The machine is improved in that the means for binding the vine shoots (3) consist of at least one binding member (50) longitudinally and transversely slidable on the machine frame (4) downstream from drums (20, 22, 23, 24) for feeding and supporting the shoots (3) along a taut wire (1), said binding member (50) being provided with a notch that may be closed by a pivotable member to hold the wire (1) and a shoot (3) therein as they are at least partially surrounded by a binding (63) twisted by means of a helical revolving means. The machine is particularly useful for automatically binding cordon-pruned vine stock shoots.
