SUBSTANCE: components of cell for producing aluminium by electrolysis of alumina dissolved in molten cryolite-based electrolyte are protected against attack by liquid and/or gaseous electrolyte components in the form of individual elements, ions or compounds by means of refractory boride coating deposited from suspension consisting of preliminarily prepared refractory boride particles suspended in colloidal carrier. Finally, to strengthen coating thus-deposited, it is dried and heated. EFFECT: higher protection offered to aluminium electrolysis cells. |
