<p>The flexible rail vehicle wheel is constituted by a rim surrounded by a tyre. These two parts are fixed together by pins (7), regularly divided around the rim, which are force fitted into the rim and tyre. Reinforcements (10) are buried in the pins. These reinforcements are arranged so that the pin material operates in a shearing mode in a radial direction perpendicular to the axle axis. This increases the flexibility of the pins in this direction. The reinforcements also cause the pin to be in a compression mode in a transverse direction parallel to the axle axis and reduce the pin flexibility in this direction. The reinforcements of each pin are constituted by internal (12) and external (14) armatures, respectively located near the two faces (7a,b) of the pin which are facing the rim and the tyre. Each armature comprises teeth (15) which penetrate inside the pin. The internal armature teeth are displaced relative to the external armature teeth in the wheel circumferential direction.</p> |
