A golf practice device including a base (1), a retractable head (2) mounted on the base (1) and having a surface (3) facing in essentially the opposite direction to the face of the golf club head, and means (4) for indicating the striking angle of the club on the head (2), which means include a disc (8) secured to the head (2) and rotatable on the base (1) essentially in the plane thereof. The head is placed substantially at the centre of the disc, and means (12) are provided for indicating how much the disc (8) has moved relative to the base (1) after said retractable head (2) has been struck by the club. The head (2) may be stationary or movably mounted on the base so that it is caused to retract by the impact of the golf club and does not obstruct the path thereof.
