An optical fiber cable comprising an elongated retaining member haiving a spiral grooves in its periphery and at least one strip of optical fiber accommodated in the groove, wherein the retaining member is made of at least two materials having different distributions of molecular weight. This structure minimizes the transmission loss due to microbends in the optical fiber strip accommodated in the retaining member, while densely packing fiber strips in the retaining member.
