Fusible vinyl acetate copolymer fibres based on vinyl acetate copolymers contain (a) at least 40.0 % by weight vinyl acetate units; (b) 15.0 to 50.0 % by weight monomer units that consist of one or several chlori ne-free, ethylenically unsaturated monomers whose homopolymers have a glass transition temperature Tg from 40 to 120 .degree.C; (c ) 0.1 to 15.0 % by weight monomer units that consist of one or several ethylenically unsaturated monomers whose homopolymers have a glass tr ansition temperature Tg from -100 to 0 .degree.C.
