FIELD: metallurgy; production of medium-carbon high-strength and high-ductility alloyed steels and products therefrom. SUBSTANCE: steel basically comprising carbon, manganese, silicon, chrome, copper and iron is additionally alloyed with aluminium, calcium and cerium, said components are present in the following weight ratio, wt.-%: carbon, 0.30-0.45; manganese, 1.20-1.60; silicon, 0.20-0.60; chrome, 0.30-0.60; copper, 0.10-0.30; aluminium, 0.001-0.030; calcium, 0.001-0.003; cerium, 0.001-0.003; iron, the balance. Silicon-to-copper ratio and manganese-to-chrometo- silicon ratio are described by the following relationships: 1.0 ≥ Si+2 Cu > 0.5, and 2.5 > Si+Cr+Mn > 1.8. Composition steel can be used to manufacture heavy-duty structural members and articles, such as, binding belts for baling cotton, man-made fibers, yarn, for stacking sawn timber and metal items, for manufacturing resilient measuring tapes (e.g. measuring reels). EFFECT: higher strength of steel and products therefrom while preserving ductility at the same level; improved corrosion resistance both in hardened and tempered condition; better adaptability of heat-treated strengthened tape made of steel to stamping by blanking dies; higher efficiency. |
