<p>Reflective electrodes (107) are provided on a substrate (108) and ITO transparent electrodes (102) are provided on a substrate (101). Orientation films (106, 103) composed of polyimide are respective provided on both of the substrates (108, 101). The orientation films (106, 103) are respectively rubbed in predetermined directions. A polymer precursor and liquid crystal containing a predetermined amount of a chiral agent are interposed between the two substrates (108, 101), and the polymer is separated out through irradiation by ultraviolet rays. The liquid crystal (105) and polymer (104) have a mutually orientated and dispersed structure, and the liquid crystal (105) has a predetermined twisting angle in a predetermined twisting direction. As a result, the incident surface which efficiently scatters light substantially matches the surface containing the up-and-down direction of the liquid crystal display device and the normal direction to the surface of the top substrate (108), so that a polymer dispersed-type liquid crystal display device is obtained which is particularly bright in a specific direction in accordance with the application. <IMAGE></p> |
