A variable displacement compressor comprises a compressor main body (10) for compressing gas introduced from an external circuit (65) and discharging the gas so compressed to the external circuit (65). Mufflers (17, 23) are provided in such a manner as to be located between the compressor main body (10) and the external circuit (65) for preventing pulsations generated in association with gas compressing actions in the compressor main body (10). A capacity control valve (20) is provided for controlling the discharge volume of the compressor main body (10) and is mounted on covers (18, 24) mounted in turn on the mufflers (27, 23) respectively.
