FIELD: agricultural engineering; soil preparation for separation at root and tuber harvesting. SUBSTANCE: device can be used in harvester or independently. It has cylindrical depth roller installed on frame and two discs installed on frame at an angle relative to each other so that distance between discs at the front is greater than that between discs at the rear, viewing from top. Discs are mounted at sides of roller on frame which has hinge-connected suspensions with fitted on disc axle-shafts. Suspensions are mounted on frame by means of screw mechanisms and/or chains. Front portions of suspensions are hinge connected to rear portions and are secured by screw mechanisms. With device operating, roller presses on bed from the top, discs are forced into soil of row spacings and press through soil of these zones onto lower part of bed from sides and/or onto soil under tubers or roots and, consequently, press on the soil which press on bed from below. As bed is exposed to joint pressure from roller and discs at a considerable re-forming in cross section, intensive braking of soil is provided over entire bed. Owing to the fact that pressure on roots from roller is accompanied by breaking ties between separate structural aggregates of soil by discs, roots are forced into soil without high resistance from soil and, consequently, without damage.
