<p>A method of producing microstructures in chalcogen-containing glasses which exploits the changes induced in such glasses by radiation. The surface of the glass is exposed to a predetermined pattern of radiation which produces regions of varying properties such as refractive index and transmittance. The patterns are selected to produce devices with desirable optical effects such as diffraction gratings.</p> |
