GASEOUS SEPARATION BY DIFFUSION

A method of separating hydrogen from a mixture of gases comprising the steps of exposing one, supply, side of a diffusion barrier to the gaseous mixture at a first total pressure, exposing the other, delivery, side of the barrier to a balance gas at a second total pressure and collecting hydrogen which has diffused through the barrier at said delivery side, and wherein the total pressure difference across the barrier is not greater than the overall differential partial pressure of hydrogen across the barrier.
