The invention relates to a device for use when supporting and fixing the generally inverted U-shaped edge of a bath or shower tub onto a wall, comprising a bracket provided with a slot for fastening to the wall, said bracket having an upper supporting face for the downwardly directed leg of the tub edge, and a portion that is adapted to flex in a direction towards said wall and that may engage the inner side of said outer leg so as to lock the latter in place. According to the invention the bracket is an elongate profile section comprising said fastening slot and being provided on the wall side with a strip of vibration damping material, said strip extending upwardly beyond the end that functions as a tub edge supporting face, whereas the flexible locking part is formed by a locking tongue or leg that extends from the front side at the supporting end of the profile section and is directed towards said strip extending beyond said supporting end. <IMAGE>
