A steering wheel and column gear change or other lever may be locked together by situating either the wheel rim or the lever in a recess in a block and then passing a flexible band attached to the block over the recess and around the other member to be locked, the band being taken back to the block and fastened thereto. In Fig. 1 the block 10 is hook shaped as shown and the band is replaced by a bar sliding through the block and engaging a hooked end 16 around the wheel rim, the bar being locked in position by an arrangement as in Fig. 2 (not shown) similar to the locking means of Specifications 1,107,012 and 1,039,980.
