A dental root implant consists of a metal implant body (1) which has transverse openings (2) near its rounded lower end. The implant body (1) has a shape which tapers downwards. Circumferential grooves (4) are arranged parallel and mutually separated in its outer face (3), these grooves being rounded at their base (5) and at the junction (6) with the respectively neighbouring outer face sections (3a).
