<p>Inks for paper, plastic or Al substrates, are free from wetting or surface active agent and contain practically no water but contain (1) at least one dye which passes into vapour state at 180-210 degrees C at atm. pressure, dissolved or finely-divided in an org. solvent (2), and (3) heat-stable binder or thickener, soluble in org. solvent, and not going tacky below 250 degrees C. Pref. anthraquinone or monoazo dyes are used. Pref. binders are nitro- or benzyl-cellulose or cellulose ethers derived from lower aliphatic alcohols, esp. ethyl-, hydroxyethyl- or hydroxypropyl-cellulose. Pref. solvent is lower monohydric alcohol, esp. ethanol and/or isopropanol, ester and/or ketone, boiling below 120 degrees C. Pref. paper strips are non-porous.</p> |
