发明名称 REFLECTION TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain a high picture quality by a simple method by forming a rough surface of an insulating substrate where a transparent electrode is formed or by forming a light-scattering coating film on the substrate. CONSTITUTION: An active matrix type switching element comprising a gate electrode 7, source-drain electrode 3, gate insulating film 6, doped layer 4 and semiconducting layer 5, and a pixel electrode 8 connected to the switching element are formed on a lower insulating substrate 1. The pixel electrode 8 acts as a reflecting plate. A common electrode 9 having a rough surface is formed on an upper insulating substrate 2. The upper insulating substrate 2 and the lower insulating substrate l are laminated in such a manner that the pixel electrode 8 and the common electrode 9 face each other to hold a liquid crystal layer 10 between these. The rough surface of the insulating substrate 2 having a transparent electrode to give light-scattering property is obtd. by grinding the surface with an abrasive powder, and if necessary, by etching with hydrofluoric acid.
