PRODUCTION OF THIAZOLE DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE: To produce a thiazole derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate for pharmaceuticals in high efficiency by a hydrolysis reaction. CONSTITUTION: The objective thiazole derivative of formula II is produced by hydrolyzing a compound of formula I (R<1> is an amino-protecting group; R<2> is H or a carboxyl-protecting group; R<3> is H or a 1-3C alkyl) with water of pH1-7 at 10-50 deg.C for 0.1-30hr. The water of pH1-7 may be plain water or a mixture of water and an organic solvent compatible with water to form a homogeneous phase (e.g. water-methanol). An example of the compound of formula I is 2-(2-formylamino-4-thiazolyl)-2-formyloxyiminoacetic acid and that of the compound of formula II is 2-(Z)-(2-formylamino-4-thiazolyl)-2- hydroxyiminoacetic acid ethylester.
