PURPOSE: To obtain a high-unsaturation-value lacotone polymer useful for a hardenable pressure-sensitive adhesive, a coating material, various binders an unsatd. polyester resin modifier, etc., by reacting hydroxyl groups of a specific high-hydroxyl-value lactone polymer with a specific unsated. compd. CONSTITUTION: All or a part of the hydroxyl groups of a high-hydroxyl-value lactone polymer which has 10-5,000 hydroxyl groups in the molecule and is represented by formula I (wherein L is a monomer unit having no hydroxyl nor carboxyl group; M is a residue of a hydroxyl monomer; 0<=a<=1,000, 10<=b<=5,000, 0<=c<=1,000, and 2<=n1 <=30; and R<1> is 2-10C alkylene) are reacted with an unsatd. selected from among an unsatd. carboxylic acid deriv., a unsatd. epoxy compd., and an unsatd. halogen compd. to give a high-unstaturation-value lactone polymer which has an unsatd. group content of 1×10<-4> -5×10<-2> mol/g- polymer, 10-15,000 unsatd. groups per molecule, and a number average mol.wt. of 20,000-2,000,000 and is represented by formula II [wherein L, M, (a), (b), (c), n1 , and Ru1 are each the same as described above; and U is H or an unsatd. group such as-COR<3> or-CONHR<3> (wherein R<3> is an unsatd. hydrocarbon group)].
