摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain an optical connector with which the dimensions stable to a change by the shrinkage by curing of a molding material, a change by a temp. change and a change by humidity is assured by embedding a reinforcing member having the coefft. of linear expansion smaller than the coefft. of liner expansion of a resin molding into the front end of a ferrule so as to enclose optical fiber insertion holes. CONSTITUTION: This optical connector has the ferule 11 consisting of the resin molding having the optical fiber insertion holes 13 and fitting pin holes 12 for axis alignment. The reinforcing member 15 is arranged at around the front end of the ferrule 1 so as to enclose the six optical fiber insertion holes 13. The reinforcing member 15 is formed of, for example, a sintered hard alloy having the coefft. of linear expansion smaller than the coefft. of linear expansion of the resin molding of the ferrule 11. The reinforcing member 15 is not limited to the sintered hard alloy and may be formed of any materials, insofar as the materials have the coefft. of linear expansion (<=1×10<-5> K<-1> ) smaller than the coefft. of linear expansion of the resin molding of the ferrule 11. Such materials may be, for example, ceramics, such as zirconia and alumina, metals, such as copper, glass, quartz, glass, etc., and may be composite formed by combining these materials.
