A roll-type capacitor is produced by winding a dielectric strip with a deposited metal film on a mandrel. The roll is contacted at the end faces with a sprayed metal layer and a connecting wire, squeezed flat and then split lengthwise into two or more parts. The roll can also be impregnated with cast resin before splitting to give greater mechanical cohesion.
