The cold air from the cellar (11) is pumped (20) through a supply pipe (12) to cooling channels in the walls or floors of the upper storeys (14). The return air pipe (13) is connected via a pump (21) to a manifold in the cellar. Fresh air from the outside is pumped into the cellar. Valves (M) in the cellar can divert return air to an external vent (19) or back to the cellar volume. Valves are also used to vent the input pump output to the outside (18).
