The device is provided with a removable cassette (2) in which milk sample collectors (3) can be placed, and at least one filling receptacle (19) capable of being placed successively above the collectors. The filling part is capable of bringing milk samples, taken from milk yielded by means of an automatic milking machine, into the collectors. A guidance mechanism (17) supporting the filling part is designed in such a way that the filling part is moved, by increasing the distance between the guidance mechanism and the cassette and by subsequently decreasing the distance, from a position above a collector to an adjacent position above a nearby situated collector.
