PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound, represented by a specific formula, capable of providing an image from a blue at a good density to a cyan color, good in fastness of an image part to light and heat and capable of affording a recording material having a slight optical stain in a white ground part. CONSTITUTION: A compound of the formula R<1> and R<2> are each H, a (cyclo) alkyl, an aralkyl or an aryl; R<3> is OR<4> or NHR<5> [R<4> is a (cyclo)alkyl, an aralkyl or an aryl; R<5> is R<4> or an acyl]; R<6> and R<7> are each H, an alkyl or an aryl; R<8> and R<9> are each H, an alkyl an alkoxy or a halogen; X is O or S; one or two in Y<1> to Y<4> are =N and the other is =CH}. Furthermore, the compound is obtained by reacting, e.g. N,N-di-n-propyl-N'-n-propyloxycarbonyl-m-phenylene diamine with (1-ethyl)-2-methylindol-3-yl)(3-carboxypyridin-2-yl)ketone in acetic anhydride. |
