<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a detection technique by which a damage part in a water blocking sheet is detected by arranging an optical fiber, laying the water blocking sheet so as to cover the optical fiber, heaping up wastes on the water blocking sheet, and detecting temperature at a time when permeated water raised by heat generated in the process of the change with time of the wastes is leaked, by using the optical fiber as a sensor. CONSTITUTION: A composite layer 15 which is composed of a water permeable mat 8 and a water nonpermeable layer 9 is laid on the bottom face 16, the slope 17 in its circumference and the small step part 18 of a waste disposal place 2, an optical fiber 6 is housed inside a porous sheath pipe 7 composed of a porous stainless steel pipe or the like, the optical fiber is connected, and an optical fiber cable 12 is arranged and installed. The cable 12 is arranged in a loop shape at equal intervals on the bottom face 16, the slope 17 and the small step part 18. The optical fiber 6 is used as a sensor. Wastes 3 are dumped on a water blocking sheet 4, heaped up, and covered with several layers of earth and sand layers 21. When a damage part A exists in the sheet 4, permeated water which has crept into the water permeable mat 8 flows down in the water- nonpermeable layer 9 so as to come into contact with the optical fiber 6, and temperature is detected by a temperature measuring instrument.</p> |
