PURPOSE: To obtain a variable displacement type piston pump of a minimum capacity starting type which can prevent a sudden increase of inclination of a swash plate. CONSTITUTION: A control piston 15 presses a swash plate 8 in the direction of the maximum inclination by the hydraulic force of an operating oil fed to a control chamber 14. And a restoration spring 16 energizes the swash plate 8 in the direction of the minimum inclination. By the force relation between the hydraulic force fed to the control chamber 14αof a control cylinder 14, and the spring force of the restoration spring 16, the inclination of the swash plate 8 is determined. And the control chamber 14αand a discharge passage 13 are connected through a pressure leading passage 30, and a throttle is placed on the pressure leading passage 30.
