PURPOSE: To obtain a polyarylene sulfide resin composition which is useful as a material for electric and electronic equipments, excellent in operability in melt-kneading, moldability with good flowability and in mechanical strength by formulating calcium carbonate whose surface is treated with a specific resin as a filler. CONSTITUTION: This resin composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of a polyarylene sulfide resin, (B) 5-200 pts.wt. of calcium carbonate whose surface is previously treated with (i) a resin bearing carboxyl group and hydroxyl groups and (C) 0-200 pts.wt. of an inorganic filler other than the component B. The component (i) is a copolymer prepared by polymerizing anα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and anα,β-unsaturated carboxylic hydroxy-ester and/or a poly(vinyl alcohol) containing carboxyl groups, while the component C is 5-150 pts.wt. of glass fiber or carbon fiber, and the component (D) to be blended is preferably 0.1-5 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. of the component A, of an alkoxy silane.
