PURPOSE: To obtain a stable image output at all times and to prevent wasteful control of image density, wasteful consumption of toner by an AIDC (auto image density control), deterioration of consumable articles, etc., by providing a switch means for switching the count value of a timer to a count value which is longer than it. CONSTITUTION: A control signal from a CPU 201 is inputted to an LED output circuit 205, and a specified driving voltage is applied to cause the LED 101 of an AIDC sensor 104 to emit light. The output of a photodiode 102 is also inputted to the CPU 201. The timing of an AIDC operation is made different between the initial time after a power source has been turned on and the time after a certain length of time has elapsed. Even in a case where image formation conditions change before the control stabilizes after the power source was turned on, they are immediately corrected by the AIDC. Additionally, after the stabilization of the control of air-conditioning devices, the AIDC operation is performed at long time intervals, therefore, wasteful consumption of the toner and deterioration of the consumable articles are prevented, and a time loss during which image are not formed is also prevented. |
