NEW ANTIBIOTIC KP-3052 AND ITS PREPARATION

PURPOSE: To produce a new antibiotic useful as a therapeutic agent or a prophylatic agent for bacterial or fungal infectious diseases. CONSTITUTION: This antibiotic KP-3052 has the following physicochemical properties: Property: white powder; molecular weight: 344.1573; molecular formula: C13 H21 N5 O6 ; melting point: 260 deg.C (decomposition); specific rotatory power [α]D<25> =-9 deg. (c=0.65, H2 O); solubility: soluble in water and sparingly soluble in methanol, acetone and chloroform; color reaction: positive to the ninhydrin reaction. The antibiotic is obtained by culturing a microorganism, belonging to actinomyces and having the ability to produce the antibiotic KP-3052 [a strain KP-3052 which is a new microorganism (FERM P14875)] in a culture medium and then collecting the substance from the cultured product. The culture temperature is preferably 27 deg.C. The culture time is usually 2-7 days; however, the culture is preferably completed when the amount of the accumulated antibiotic KP-3052 attains the maximum. Liquid culture is preferred for the mass culture of the antibiotic KP-3052.
