The electrical connector consists of two insulating halves each with a contact inside it. The two contacts are similar but rotated w.r.t. each other by 180 deg. The two connector halves have guides to ensure correct positioning. The contacts (1) are fork shaped, with one prong (2) much longer than the other (3). The two connector halves (10, 11) and/or the shorter fork prongs (3) have guiding surfaces (5, 17) for elastic deflection of the longer prong (2) in a receiving channel (4). The two halves of the connector each include a surface with a rectangular projection which fits into a corrsp. depression in the mating connector piece.
