PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method or a device for reducing power to be supplied to a transmission medium and a station or at least to any of them, while payload data are not transmitted between applications. SOLUTION: In this method, a standstill term to occur during data transmission between various services is detected by a power-managing means, so that an infrared link (IrDA-SIR) can be cut off automatically. When a new activity is detected, this link is automatically restarted. Thus, even while a virtual link to the application layer at the other station (layer 7) is maintained in the application layer, at least one station can be changed into a sleep mode. |
