<p>The emergency release automatically frees a vehicle safety belt in the event of an accident. It replaces the anchorage at one point and comprises a cylindrical body (13) filled with oil. A spring loaded piston (18, 21) forms a dashpot, an orifice (20) determining its time delay. Above the cylinder is a guide bush (3) for a fixing pin (5), passing through the belt buckle (11) and pressing the dashpot piston onto the spring. A locking pin fits through the fixing pin and is attached to the belt. A pull releases locking pin and fixing pin, the dashpot -forcing the latter out to free the belt buckle.</p> |
