PURPOSE: To obtain high mechanical characteristics while improving the reduction in weight by constituting to contain FRP using specific reinforcing fiber yarn particularly as various tube forming materials. CONSTITUTION: The yoke 3 of one end side of a propeller shaft 2 is made of metal, but the shaft 4 made of a tube is formed of FRP. The tube contains fiber-reinforced plastic(FRP) obtained by impregnating a plurality of layers of reinforcing fiber materials with resin, and at least one layer of reinforcing fiber material is formed of reinforcing fiber woven fabric in which at least one of warps and wefts is formed of flat reinforcing fiber yarns having the width of a single yarn of 3 to 16mm and a yarn width/thickness ratio of 20 or more and a flat yarn woven fabric in which at least one of warps and wefts is fibers arranged in parallel in the state of woven fabric. Such a propeller shaft 2 not only reduced in weight but also the shaft 4 part performs high strength and high elastic characteristics. |
