PURPOSE: To unnecessitate the lowering of furnace temp. during a trouble restoring work by connecting a preceding material to a following material through a metallic strip and carrying while connecting the metallic strip at the time of recarrying. CONSTITUTION: A heating zone A is provided in a continuous annealing furnace. An aluminum strip S is floated up and supported by injecting high temp. gas and heated at 500-550 deg.C. The strip S is cooled in a cooling zone B. In the case the carrying of the strip S is lowered to a prescribed space or slower or stopped, the metallic strip having a temp. of∞m.p. of the aluminum is passed in the furnace. Then, the strip S is cut off with a cutting machine 8 and separated into the preceding material S1 and the following material S2 . Further, after ejecting the preceding material S1 to outside of the furnace, a dummy material Sa is supplied in the furnace, and the preceding material S1 and the following material S2 are connected through the dummy material Sa and carried while connect the dummy material Sa at the time of recarrying. By this method, as soon as the trouble is restored, the operation can be reopened.
