The heat detecting sensor reacts to heat radiations, infra-red reaiations emitted by living creatures. The device (1) comprises three main parts, i.e. a sensor (6), a lens (4) and a screening focussing part (5). The screening focussing part is longitudinally displaceable between the sensor and the lens, so that on its movement towards the lens it screens the incoming light radiations (12) towards the sensor in order to focus the detected target. The screening focussing part comprises a plate with a central hole. It is guided in a longitudinal movement by two guides. It can consist of a front-mounted iris. The device (1) has a pistol-type outer casing and is portable.
