FIELD: welding. SUBSTANCE: in traditional method of friction welding central parts of end faces to be welded are made flat. in case of welding of titanium and its alloys with stainless steel this leads to formation of fragile intermetallic layer on metal separation surfaces. So additional expenses are required to provide grinding of surfaces and heavy pressures are to be used when carrying out friction welding in shielding gases. This problem can be solved efficiency if central portion of one or both end faces to be welded is made in form of projecting (convex) surface relative to flat section limiting this central portion of end face. Conical shape of end face is simplest to be used in practice. EFFECT: increased strength of joint owing to provision of contact between inner clean layers of metals, reduced consumption of materials and labour input in subsequent machining. |
